Equipment and systems covered by this certificate are as follows

Model No. 24184A -000 A116 Syngas Module.  Electrical ratings 480Vac, 1-Ph, 60Hz / 220V, 1-Ph, 60Hz / 125Vdc / 24Vdc

The A116 Syngas Module is a component part of an electrical generator assembly manufactured by General Electric Power & Water Division; USA.  All Ex equipment and components within the hazardous classified area of the  A116 Syngas module are IEC Ex certified.

Enclosures and junction boxes in the A116 Syngas module clearly presents instructions for wiring interconnections and field wiring during final installation of equipment. Instructions for safety, putting into service; use; assembling and dismantling; maintenance, overhaul and repair; Installation; adjustment; refer to installation instructions and drawings for guidance

The A116 Syngas module contains the gas piping and main control valves used to control the flow, pressure, and distribution of fuel to the turbine combustor. 

The module contains valves and instrumentation for both control of Natural Gas fuel and a Syngas fuel source as well as Nitrogen Diluent, Compressor Discharge Purge, and Nitrogen Purge. Additionally the module contains equipment for fire protection/suppression, lighting, ventilation, and gas monitoring system. 

The A116 module is not a standalone system and is not functional until it is properly installed in the gas turbine power plant. 


NOTE: Although this equipment is covered under a Full Certificate supported by the ExTR and QAR listed, each unit is inspected and verified by the ExCB upon completion. This Certificate covers only the Model Number and Serial Number listed in the “Electrical Apparatus” section on page 1 of this Certificate.




1) The Area classification drawing, No 104T9532 defines the boundaries between various hazardous areas within the A116 Syngas Module and the associated non-hazardous zones. It is the responsibility of the end user of equipment to maintain the hazardous area envelop as defined in the drawing No 104T9532 in accordance with area classifications procedures from IEC 60079-10-1


2) Ex “d” components provided with a rigid conduit seal shall be sealed during assembly, field installation and commissioning of the equipment. A list of seals informing location and quantities was supplied with equipment.  All Ex “d “ components within the hazardous classified area of A116 Syngas module shall be re-inspected by local recognized certifier body and/or the local authority jurisdiction previous equipment being fully functional for operation.  


3) Components ID 33PG-13C; 33PG-14O/C; 33VS7-1/2; and 33VN-1; Switch pack manufactured by TopWorx:


- The air pressure to the valve block, when fitted, shall not exceed 10.0 bar.

- The slotted hexagonal head cover screws are not of standard form; they shall only be replaced with identical screws sourced from the equipment manufacturer.

- The hexagonal head cover screws are to be replaced only with stainless steel A2-70 or A4-80 screws to ISO 35061.

- Cover fasteners are to be tightened to a torque value of 10.85 Nm (8ft/lbs) minimum.


4) Component Tag Number ID 20 NC-1 , Solenoid Valve mounted on VNC-1 Control Valve: Short Circuit fault protection shall be provided by the end user. See special conditions of use in certificate IEC Ex PTB 07.0021X.
