Schedule

EQUIPMENT:
Equipment and systems covered by this certificate are as follows:

The TPA-120-Ex-MT RFID Antenna is designed to form part of a RFID system located in the hazardous area. The equipment comprises a coil of copper wire forming an induction loop that communicates with a transponder by transmission of both energy and data.

The antenna comprises a coil of copper wire wound around a plastic bracket which is fully encapsulated forming a sealed unit. External connections to the antenna are made via an integral cable of up to 20 metres in length.

Input Parameters

Maximum Voltage = 6V d.c.

Maximum RF Power = 2 Watts

CONDITIONS OF CERTIFICATION: YES as shown below:

1) The external connections must be terminated in an appropriately certified enclosure with a minimum degree of protection suitable for the zone of installation.

2) The threshold power of the antenna must be limited to 2W when the antenna gain is taken into account. Programmable or software control intended for setting by the user is not permitted.

3) The antenna must be installed so that it is protected from direct exposure to light.

4) For Equipment Protection Level (EPL) Gc mounting –

i)
The equipment should be externally fitted with transient protection to limit the transients to 140% of the peak rated voltage of 85V d.c.
ii) The equipment constitutes a potential electrostatic hazard. The antenna must not be rubbed or cleaned with solvents.
