EQUIPMENT:
Equipment and systems covered by this certificate are as follows:

The DB4E Speaker and variants, together with the DB3E Sounder and variants, comprise a cylindrical enclosure complete with an external horn flare manufactured in glass reinforced polyester.

The enclosure has the option of either a long or short flare arrangement, each permanently fixed to the cylindrical enclosure body to form the flameproof enclosure. A sinter is mounted internally at the centre of each horn flare to facilitate the transmission of sound energy. End of line resistors may be incorporated within the flameproof enclosure.

The other end of the body is closed by an increased safety enclosure which is secured by 6 off M5 x 25mm stainless steel socket head cap screws grade A2-70, A4-70 or A 4-80. Each screw may optionally be machined to provide retention within the counterbores of the increased safety enclosure.

The increased safety enclosure is provided with BK terminals to IECEx SIR05.0035U and has potted cables to the flameproof enclosure.

Up to three M20 or 1/2” NPT cable entries may be provided in the side wall of the increased safety enclosure for the accommodation of suitable cable entry devices.

For additional information please see Annex

CONDITIONS OF CERTIFICATION: YES as shown below:

1. This equipment is not suitable for use in atmospheres containing carbon disulphide.

2. Painting and surface finishes, other than those applied by the manufacturer, are not permitted.

3. When used in a dust atmosphere the cable entries and stopping plugs must maintain the IP66 rating of the enclosure.

4. Not more than one single or multiple strand lead shall be connected to any terminal unless multiple conductors have been joined in a suitable manner, e.g. two conductors into a single insulated crimped boot lace ferrule.

5. Leads connected to the terminals shall be insulated for the appropriate voltage and this insulation shall extend to within 1mm of the terminal throat.

6. All terminal screws, used and unused, shall be tightened down to between 0.5Nm and 0.7Nm.

7. The terminals shall only be installed and wired with cable in an ambient temperature of -10oC to +80oC.
