General product information:

The backplanes of various shapes according to type code are designed to carry certified LB-I/O-Modules. The LB-I/O-Modules are subject to other IECEx Certificates of Conformity.
The backplanes are intended for installation in the safe area or in areas requiring EPL Gc equipment.

Type Code

Backplane type LB902xBP*, LB903xBP*;
In the full designation, the spacers 'x' and '*' are replaced as follows:
'x' = Any number representing type of backplane (Standard or Redundancy or Extension / Expansion backplane) and
"*" = Number code for amount of Gateway-, Power-Supply- and I/O-module-slots

Description

The backplanes are designed as a rack, mountable on DIN-Rails, comprising of a base panel with DIN-Rail hooks at the rear side, positioning / mechanical fixing assemblies for LB-I/O-Modules and a printed circuit board at the front side.
The printed circuit board, which carries non-intrinsically safe circuits only, is fitted with connectors for the external connections (external power supplies / data interfaces / extension interface / shutdown inputs and LB-I/O-Modules.
For use of backplanes fitted with LB-I/O-Modules providing intrinsically safe circuits, safety-related maximum voltages (Um) for the non-intrinsically safe circuits are defined in 'Rating'.

 SPECIFIC CONDITIONS OF USE:   YES as shown below:
 
 
1.     General
The backplanes shall be connected to 'safety extra low-voltage' (SELV) circuits or to 'protected extra
low-voltage' (PELV) circuits providing safe galvanic segregation.
All circuits connected to the backplanes shall comply with overvoltage category II according to
IEC/EN 60664-1.
The backplanes shall be installed and operated only in environment conditions providing pollution
degree 2 according to IEC 60664-1 as a minimum.
In case of operation in environments with increased degree of pollution, the device shall be protected accordingly.
2. Installation in the save area
The device must be installed and operated only in surrounding enclosures that
   - comply with the requirements for surrounding enclosures according to IEC 60079-0,
   - are rated with the degree of protection IP54 according to IEC 60529.
Alternatively, it is permitted to install and operate the device in a controlled environment that
ensures a degree of protection IP20 according to IEC 60529.
3. Installation in EPL Gc area
The device must be installed and operated only in surrounding enclosures that
   - comply with the requirements for surrounding enclosures according to IEC 60079-0,
   - are rated with the degree of protection IP54 according to IEC 60529.
