EQUIPMENT:
Equipment and systems covered by this certificate are as follows:
 
Model 500 (IIB), Model 600 (IIC), Emergency Model 550 (IIB) and Emergency Model 650 (IIC)
The equipment comprises a tubular glass lamp enclosure or polycarbonate glass lamp enclosure with zinc alloy caps cemented to each end.  One cap forms a blank, whilst the other has a tapered spigot joint to allow the fitting of a bolt-on control enclosure.  The two enclosures are separated by means of a barrier plate.  The lamp enclosure is supported by tie bars or a lamp reflector fixed to the control enclosure. M8 stainless steel socket cap head screws secure the gear housing to the spigot which have a minimum property class grade A or C and a minimum yield stress of 410 MPa.  The lamp enclosure contains single or twin fluorescent tubes and connections.  The control enclosure contains control gear and termination facilities.  Cables pass between the two enclosures via a potted bushing in the barrier plate.  Cabling to the equipment is by means of up to two threaded cable entry apertures in the control enclosure for the fitting of suitably dimensioned and certified cable entry components.  These Models may have the following design options:
*The lamp enclosure tube length may be such as to accommodate tubes from 1 ft to 5 ft.
*As an alternative method of cable entry, the existing apertures can be replaced by an aperture and flange arrangement that allows the fitting of a bolt-on cable box.  This box has a bolt-on cover and up to two apertures for the fitting of suitably dimensioned and certified cable entry components.
*The equipment may be associated with an emergency battery pack, as IECEx SIR 09.0127U.  This battery is fitted to the end-cap/tie bar arrangement and utilises the existing cable entry and termination facilities.

The polycarbonate overtube that may be used in the construction of these luminaires can present a risk of electrostatic discharge.  Therefore, products that are fitted with this type of overtube shall only be cleaned with a damp cloth.

Calstar Type 300 Luminaires and Calstar Type 350 Luminaires

The Calstar Type 300 Luminaires have an Ex e II terminal compartment providing two M20 or M25 threaded cable entries for the connection with suitably certified EEx e II cable entry devices. The cable entries can alternatively be manufactured with other, nearest, equivalent threadforms.  The Calstar Type 300 luminaires incorporate terminals that are Weidmuller type MK6/6.  The lamps may be either 230 V AC, 50/60 Hz, 13 W Max. (CFL) compact fluorescent lamps or 230 V AC, 50/60 Hz, 60 W Max. (GLS) incandescent lamps.  An alternative ‘Ex d’ terminal compartment that includes additional, internal, in-line plug and socket terminals may be fitted to the Calstar Type 300 Range Luminaires to form the Calstar Type 350 Luminaires.  The lamps may be either230 V AC, 50/60 Hz, 13 W Max. (CFL) compact fluorescent lamps or 230 V AC, 50/60 Hz, 60 W Max. (GLS) incandescent lamps.
Conditions of Manufacture
The Manufacturer shall comply with the following conditions of manufacture:
1.Each 4 ft and 5 ft IIC luminaire overtube assembly shall be subjected to a routine pressure test of 16.5 bar for at least 10 s, as required by clause 16.1 of IEC 60079-1:2007. There shall be no damage or deformation as a result of the test.
2.The products covered by this certificate incorporate previously certified devices, it is therefore the responsibility of the manufacturer to continually monitor the status of the certification associated with these devices, and the manufacturer shall inform Sira of any modifications of the devices that may impinge upon the explosion safety design of their products.
3.The type B battery packs shall be used in conjunction with electronic high frequency inverter types EM33A or EM35B manufactured by Tridonic.
4.Type 300 ‘Calstar’ Luminaires shall be subjected to an electric strength test of 2U +1000 V (where U is the supply voltage) with a minimum of 1500 V ac, shall be applied between circuit and casing for at least 1 minute. Alternatively 1.2 times this test voltage may be applied for 3 to 5 seconds in accordance with clause 7.1 of IEC 60079-7:2007. No breakdown shall occur.
5.Each aluminium Group IIC control housing assembly shall be subjected to a routine pressure test of 11.5 bar for at least 10 s, as required by clause 16.1 of IEC 60079-1:2007.  There shall be no damage or deformation as a result of the test.
